PIC Kit 3
The PIC Kit 3 from Microchip. If you want an official programmer from Microchip, this is it! The PIC kit 3 allows debugging and programming of PIC and ds PIC micro-controllers using the powerful graphical user interface of the MP LAB Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The MPLAB PICkit 3 is connected to a PC using a full speed USB interface and can be connected to the target via an Microchip debug (RJ-11) connector (compatible with MP LAB ICD 2/ 3 and MPLAB REAL ICE). The connector uses two device I/O pins and the reset line to implement in-circuit debugging and In-Circuit Serial Programming. mini USB cable included.
The PICkit 3 programmer/debugger (see Figure 1-1) is a simple, low-cost in-circuit debugger that is controlled by a PC running MPLAB IDE (v8.20 or greater) software on a Windows® platform. The PIC kit 3 programmer/debugger is an integral part of the development engineer’s tool suite. The application usage can vary from software development to hardware integration. The PIC kit 3 programmer/debugger is a debugger system used for hardware and software development of Microchip PIC® micro-controllers (MCUs) and ds PIC® Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) that are based on In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) and Enhanced In-Circuit Serial Programming 2-wire serial interfaces. In addition to debugger functions, the PICkit 3 programmer/debugger system also may be used as a development programmer. The PIC kit 3 programmer/debugger is not intended to be used as a production programmer. The debugger system executes code like an actual device because it uses a device with built-in emulation circuitry, instead of a special debugger chip, for emulation. All available features of a given device are accessible interactively, and can be set and modified by the MP-LAB IDE interface.
