What is MQ 135 gas sensor and how does it work?
The MQ 135 gas sensor module consists of a steel exoskeleton under which a sensing element is housed. This sensing element is subjected to current through connecting leads. This current is known as heating current through it, the gases coming close to the sensing element get ionized and are absorbed by the sensing element. This changes the resistance of the sensing element which alters the value of the current going out of it.
The MQ 135 Gas Sensor is a highly sensitive air quality sensor designed to detect ammonia (NH3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), benzene, smoke, carbon dioxide (CO2), and other harmful gases. It is widely used in air quality monitoring systems, gas leak detection, and environmental pollution measurement.
With both analog and digital outputs, the MQ-135 sensor can be easily interfaced with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontrollers, making it ideal for IoT-based air quality projects.
